Food chain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004578
A hierarchical sequence that describes the transfer of energy and nutrients from one organism to another within an ecosystem. It begins with producers, such as plants, which convert solar energy into organic matter, and continues through successive levels of consumers. The flow of energy is unidirectional, typically decreasing at each trophic level.
