Foramen

A natural opening or passage, especially one into or through a bone, that allows for the passage of structures like blood vessels, nerves, or ligaments. In developmental toxicology, the incomplete closure or abnormal formation of a foramen, such as the foramen ovale in the heart or foramina in the skull, is considered a malformation. The largest foramen in the human skull is the foramen magnum.
