Forward geometry
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004606
An ion optical configuration in mass spectrometry where the electrostatic energy analyzer precedes the magnetic sector. In this arrangement, ions are first separated by kinetic energy, and then by momentum. This design is often used in double-focusing mass spectrometers to achieve high resolution and accurate mass measurements.
