Hierarchical clustering

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005285

A method of cluster analysis that builds a hierarchy of clusters, either by starting with individual data points and merging them into larger clusters (agglomerative) or by starting with one large cluster and dividing it into smaller ones (divisive). The results are often visualized as a dendrogram. This technique does not require specifying the number of clusters beforehand.
