Hyperimmunoglobulin M syndrome
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005515
A rare primary immunodeficiency disorder characterized by normal or elevated levels of immunoglobulin M (IgM) but very low or absent levels of other immunoglobulin classes, such as IgG, IgA, and IgE. This condition results from defects in B cell class switching, often due to mutations in genes like CD40 ligand. Patients are highly susceptible to recurrent bacterial infections.
