Selective IgA deficiency

A primary immunodeficiency characterized by significantly reduced levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) in serum and secretions, while other immunoglobulin classes are normal. Individuals with this condition may be asymptomatic or experience recurrent infections, particularly in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. It is the most common primary immunodeficiency, affecting approximately 1 in 600 people.
