Hypovolemic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005554
Relating to a state of decreased volume of circulating blood in the body. This condition, known as hypovolemia, can be caused by the loss of blood through hemorrhage or the loss of body fluids from severe vomiting, diarrhea, or burns. The reduction in blood volume leads to decreased venous return and cardiac output, which can result in hypovolemic shock, a life-threatening condition characterized by inadequate organ perfusion.
