Kasha-Vavilov rule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006308
A generalization stating that the quantum yield of luminescence from a given excited electronic state is independent of the excitation wavelength. This implies that the energy lost through vibrational relaxation and internal conversion before emission is not dependent on the initial excitation energy. The rule holds true for many organic molecules in solution, provided the excitation energy is sufficient to reach the lowest excited singlet state.
