Λ-transition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006800

A type of second-order phase transition characterized by a lambda-shaped anomaly in the heat capacity as a function of temperature. This anomaly indicates a continuous change in the order parameter, without a latent heat of transformation. The transition is associated with a gradual ordering process, such as magnetic ordering or the onset of superfluidity in helium-4.
