Lipooligosaccharide
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006662
A glycolipid found in the outer membrane of many Gram-negative bacteria, structurally similar to the lipid A and core oligosaccharide regions of lipopolysaccharides but lacking the O-antigen polysaccharide chain. These molecules are potent immunostimulants and contribute to bacterial virulence. They are typically smaller than lipopolysaccharides, with fewer repeating sugar units.
