Matrix isolation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007031

A spectroscopic technique where reactive chemical species are trapped and stabilized in a rigid, inert solid matrix at very low temperatures, typically cryogenic. This method prevents reactions between the trapped species and allows for their spectroscopic characterization. Common matrix materials include noble gases like argon or neon.
