Mechanical entrapment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007108
The physical capture of one substance within the structure of another, without forming a chemical bond. This phenomenon often occurs when a solid matrix forms around a liquid or gas, trapping it within pores or cavities. An example is the inclusion of solvent molecules within a growing crystal lattice.
