Immobilization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005630

The process of confining enzymes, cells, or other biomolecules to a distinct phase or location, preventing their free movement while retaining their biological activity. This technique is often employed to enhance stability, facilitate separation from reaction mixtures, and enable reuse in industrial processes. Common methods include entrapment within gels, covalent attachment to solid supports, or encapsulation.
