Mesocosm
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007208
An experimental system that simulates natural environmental conditions on a scale larger than a microcosm but smaller than a full ecosystem. It allows for controlled manipulation of environmental factors while maintaining some ecological complexity. These systems are often used in ecotoxicology to study the effects of pollutants on biological communities.
