Metallomesogen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013277
A compound containing one or more metal atoms that exhibits liquid crystal (mesophase) behavior. The metal center is an integral part of the molecule's rigid core, coordinated to organic ligands that promote the formation of ordered, fluid phases. The overall molecular geometry, which can be rod-like (calamitic) or disc-like (discotic), dictates the type of mesophase formed.
