Multipotent progenitor cell

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007679

A type of stem cell that has the capacity to differentiate into multiple cell types within a specific lineage or germ layer, but not all cell types of the organism. These cells are more restricted in their differentiation potential than pluripotent stem cells. Hematopoietic stem cells, which can form all blood cell types, are an example of multipotent progenitor cells.
