Nephelometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007824

A technique for measuring the concentration of suspended particulate matter in a fluid by detecting the intensity of light scattered by the particles at an angle to the incident light beam. This method is particularly useful for analyzing aerosols or colloidal suspensions. The scattered light intensity is proportional to the concentration and size of the particles.
