Nitrosamines
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013334
Organic compounds characterized by the presence of a nitroso group (-N=O) attached to a nitrogen atom of an amine. They have the general formula R2N-N=O, where R can be an alkyl or aryl group. Many nitrosamines are known carcinogens and are formed from the reaction of nitrites with secondary amines.
