Organ of Corti

The sensory epithelium located within the cochlea of the inner ear, responsible for hearing. It contains hair cells that transduce sound vibrations into electrical signals, which are then transmitted to the brain via the auditory nerve. This structure rests on the basilar membrane and is covered by the tectorial membrane.
