Photothermocatalysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008935
Catalysis driven by the combined action of electronic excitation from ultraviolet or visible light and thermal energy, the heat coming from infrared radiation or from exothermic reactions. Practical examples include a heterogeneous photocatalyst illuminated by infrared light, a laser or sunlight. The two contributions often reinforce each other, but the combined rate is not required to exceed the sum of the separate photocatalytic and thermal rates.
