Plaque-forming cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009004
A B lymphocyte that has differentiated into a plasma cell and is actively secreting antibodies. These cells are identified in an assay by their ability to lyse antigen-coated red blood cells in the presence of complement, creating clear zones or plaques. The number of plaque-forming cells indicates the magnitude of an antibody response.
