Plasma shielding
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009017
The phenomenon where a dense plasma formed at a surface absorbs or reflects incident laser radiation, preventing it from reaching the target material. This effect reduces the efficiency of laser-material interaction, particularly in laser ablation or welding processes. It is more pronounced with higher laser power densities and longer pulse durations.
