Preneoplastic

Describing a condition or lesion that precedes the development of a malignant neoplasm but is not yet cancerous itself. These cellular changes exhibit some characteristics of malignancy, such as altered growth patterns, but lack the invasive properties of true cancer. Examples include certain types of dysplasia or adenomas.
