Progestogen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009522
A class of C21 steroid hormones that regulate female reproductive functions by activating progesterone receptors. This group includes the naturally occurring hormone progesterone, produced by the corpus luteum, as well as synthetic compounds known as progestins. Progestogens prepare the endometrium for implantation and maintain pregnancy, and synthetic versions are widely used in hormonal contraceptives.
