Protein staining
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009587
A technique used to visualize proteins separated by electrophoresis or chromatography, or to detect proteins in tissue sections. Dyes bind to proteins through electrostatic or hydrophobic interactions, making them detectable by eye or with instrumentation. Coomassie Brilliant Blue and silver stain are common examples for gels.
