Radiation-stimulated diffusion

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009838

The enhanced movement of atoms or molecules within a material, driven by the energy imparted by incident radiation. This process occurs when radiation creates defects, such as vacancies or interstitials, which then facilitate atomic migration. It is observed in materials exposed to high-energy particles, leading to changes in their microstructure and properties.
