Rate difference

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009934

The absolute difference between two rates, typically incidence rates or mortality rates, in two distinct groups. This measure quantifies the excess risk or benefit associated with an exposure or intervention. For instance, if the incidence rate of a disease is 10 per 1000 in an exposed group and 5 per 1000 in an unexposed group, the rate difference is 5 per 1000.
