Recrystallization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010032
A process of purification for solid compounds, involving dissolution in a hot solvent followed by cooling to induce crystal formation. This method separates the desired compound from impurities that either remain dissolved or crystallize out at different temperatures. The purity of the product is enhanced by the ordered arrangement of molecules within the crystal lattice.
