Reporter probe
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010200
A short single-stranded oligonucleotide of known sequence, built from DNA, RNA or an artificial backbone such as LNA or PNA, that is used to find a matching complementary DNA or RNA strand in a sample. It normally carries a label, for example a fluorescent dye, so that hybridization to the target produces a measurable signal. The same kind of probe is also called a signalling probe.
