Selectivity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010686

The preference of a reagent to react with one specific site or substrate over others, or the preference of a catalyst to produce one particular product from multiple possible reactions. It quantifies the extent to which a reaction pathway is favored. For example, a highly selective catalyst will yield a high proportion of a desired product.
