Sensitive area
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013545
The specific portion of a radiation detector that responds to incident radiation and contributes to the output signal. This area is defined by the physical construction of the detector, such as the surface of a photodiode or the window of a photomultiplier tube. The response of the detector is not necessarily uniform across this entire area, and its effective size can be smaller than its physical dimensions.
