Signal transduction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010855
The process by which a cell converts an extracellular signal into an intracellular response. This involves a series of molecular events, often including phosphorylation cascades, that ultimately alter cell behavior or gene expression. Many hormones and neurotransmitters initiate their effects through specific signal transduction pathways.
