Sister chromatid exchange
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010916
A reciprocal interchange of DNA segments between two identical sister chromatids of a duplicated chromosome. This process occurs during the S phase of the cell cycle and is a manifestation of DNA repair or recombination. The frequency of these exchanges can be used as an indicator of genotoxic stress or DNA damage.
