Soxhlet extraction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011066

A laboratory technique for the continuous extraction of compounds from a solid sample into a solvent. The solid material is placed in a thimble, and the solvent is repeatedly vaporized, condensed, and dripped through the sample, dissolving the target compounds. This method is particularly effective for extracting lipids from food samples or natural products.
