Stokes parameters
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011439
A set of four values that completely describe the polarization state of electromagnetic radiation, including unpolarized, partially polarized, and fully polarized light. These parameters are typically denoted as I, Q, U, and V, representing the total intensity, the preference for horizontal or vertical polarization, the preference for +45 or -45 degree linear polarization, and the preference for right or left circular polarization, respectively. They are measured in units of intensity.
