Structure

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013600

The spatial arrangement of atoms or ions within a solid catalyst, particularly at its surface. This arrangement determines the geometry and availability of active sites where catalytic reactions occur. Reactions are classified as structure-sensitive if their rate depends on the specific crystal faces or surface defects exposed, whereas structure-insensitive reactions proceed at similar rates regardless of the surface topography.
