Vacuum phototube
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012489
A photoemissive detector consisting of a photocathode and an anode enclosed within an evacuated glass envelope. When photons strike the photocathode, electrons are emitted due to the photoelectric effect and are then accelerated towards the anode by an applied voltage, generating a measurable current. This device is used for detecting light in spectrochemical analysis, particularly in the ultraviolet and visible regions.
