Image converter tube
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005591
A vacuum tube device that converts an optical image into an electron image, which is then accelerated and focused onto a phosphor screen to produce a visible image. It operates by using a photocathode to convert incident photons into electrons, which are subsequently manipulated by electric or magnetic fields. These tubes are used for image intensification or for converting images from one spectral region to another, such as infrared to visible.
