Finite-difference equation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005588
An algebraic equation that results from replacing the derivatives in a differential equation with finite-difference approximations. These equations are solved iteratively on a computational grid to simulate the evolution of atmospheric and oceanic variables over time. They form the core of most numerical weather prediction and climate models.
