Internal energy
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006600
The total energy contained within a thermodynamic system, comprising the kinetic and potential energies of its constituent molecules. In atmospheric thermodynamics, changes in internal energy are related to heat transfer and work done on or by air parcels. It is a state function, meaning its value depends only on the current state of the system.
