Dart
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000950
A small plug with a sealing element that is dropped or pumped down the string to land on a seat. In cementing it is released behind the cement slurry to separate the cement from the displacement fluid and latch into a plug or float, while a bottom plug runs ahead to wipe mud from the pipe. Darts also land in a sleeve or sub to shift or activate a tool.
