Electrical stability test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001274
A measurement performed on oil-based drilling fluids to determine the stability of the emulsion by applying an increasing voltage across two electrodes. The voltage at which the emulsion breaks down is recorded as the electrical stability (ES) value. A higher ES value indicates a more stable emulsion, typically measured in volts.
