Fluid-density log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001510
A wellbore survey that measures the density of the fluid column at different depths. The measurement is typically made with a gradiomanometer tool, which uses two pressure sensors separated by a fixed vertical distance to calculate the density from the hydrostatic pressure gradient. This log is used to identify fluid contacts, such as oil, gas, and water, and to locate zones of fluid entry or exit by detecting density anomalies in the wellbore.
