Fresnel zone

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001587

An elliptical area on a reflector from which seismic energy constructively interferes at a given receiver. The size of this zone depends on the wavelength of the seismic wave, the depth of the reflector, and the offset between the source and receiver. It defines the minimum spatial resolution achievable in seismic imaging.
