Microemulsion

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002352

A thermodynamically stable, optically isotropic dispersion of two immiscible liquids, such as oil and water, stabilized by an interfacial film of surfactant molecules. These systems have droplet sizes typically ranging from 10 to 100 nanometers, appearing transparent or translucent. Microemulsions are formed in chemical flooding to reduce interfacial tension and mobilize trapped oil.
