Saturated solution

A chemical solution containing the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved in a given solvent at a specific temperature and pressure. In drilling fluids, a saturated salt solution prevents the dissolution of salt formations encountered during drilling. Any additional solute added will not dissolve and will remain as a solid phase.
