Velocity correction factor
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004021
The factor that converts the single-phase fluid velocity measured at the pipe center, where a spinner sits, into the average velocity across the whole cross-section. It is below 1 because flow is slowest near the pipe wall, and it depends on the flow regime. Its value is about 0.5 for laminar flow and roughly 0.8 to 0.9 for turbulent flow.
