Vertical resistivity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004033
The electrical resistivity of a formation measured in the direction parallel to the borehole axis. This measurement is particularly relevant in anisotropic formations, such as thinly bedded shales and sands, where resistivity varies with direction. Vertical resistivity is typically higher than horizontal resistivity in shales due to the alignment of conductive clay minerals.
