Bcl-2
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001154
A family of proteins that regulate programmed cell death, or apoptosis. Some members, like Bcl-2 itself, are anti-apoptotic, preventing cell death, while others are pro-apoptotic, promoting it. The balance between these proteins determines whether a cell lives or dies, and dysregulation is implicated in cancers and autoimmune diseases.
