Bence-Jones protein
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001181
Monoclonal immunoglobulin light chains, either kappa or lambda, found in the urine of patients with certain plasma cell disorders, most notably multiple myeloma. These proteins are produced in excess by abnormal plasma cells and are small enough to be filtered by the kidneys. Their presence is a diagnostic marker for these conditions.
